Baby and the Late Night Howlers
written by Kathryn Moon
This is smut. For the unknowing, smut is a term used for romance novels that are steamy. I debated whether or not to even post a review of that because this book has so much sex in it, it could be placed in the back of a Spencers (if you remember this store, you know what I mean), and I don’t want to be judged for it. But you know what? I decided I needed to review it because some of you need to know what the top shelf stuff is! This book is the queen smut, and if you want spicy, you deserve the best.
With that said, everyone has their own tastes when it comes to spice, so if what I describe next sounds like your speed, go full steam ahead.
Before I get into the plot, I need to explain the omegaverse. Luckily, I did so already for The Fake Mate, but to those uninitiated, this next bit is lifted strait from that review.
“Omegaverse” is a term used when people in a story are wolflike and either alphas [strong, masculine, hot tempered], betas [fairly ordinary, the majority of the population], or omegas [feminine, rare, desirable]. Mates and scents are a big deal where alphas, betas, and omegas are concerned as everything is more animalistic.
Now on to the plot.
Baby (yes, I know, don’t put her in a corner and all that) grew up thinking she was a beta until one day at a crowded bar filled with alphas, her scent changes to reveal that she is actually an omega. As an omega, she needs to find a pack of alphas, and fast, before she goes into heat (a mating frenzy). She has her pick of packs that could give her a life of luxury, but when her nose lead her to a biker gang, she is certain she’s found a home with more than one alpha she wants to make a lasting bond with. She’ll have to navigate multiple new relationships at once while a rival gang poses a threat to her new family.
Did you cringe? If you did, this book might not be your speed. However, if you are at least mildly intrigued, you might really enjoy this book. This book is nonstop steamy, the plot has a great pace, the love interests are all distinct, and this book manages to give you the best parts of this fantasy while balancing the reverie with engaging conflicts and heart.
The main men in this book are attentive, loving, and respectful to the max, and the romances are as sweet as they are steamy. It’s enough to make anyone gooey in the center. After reading this I was inspired to take even better care of myself because of the contact high from Baby being treated like a queen. I felt like I should show myself the same respect that her pack did.
I don’t know what to tell you. Judge me if you wish, but maybe don’t knock it until you try it.
