Traveling has always been an ordeal for me. It's because I can never decide what book(s) to bring. Therefore, I end up bringing half my bookshelf with me in my carry on. I have been told that I couldn't possibly read that many books in one trip. "I'm not so sure..." I tell them, "I can read awfully fast." This is true except I do bring too many books for even me to read. I just can't decide what book I want to read. I always ask myself these questions before deciding on the winning book;
(A)Should I read a scholarly classic that makes me look smart?
(B)A popular new arrival at the book store to voice my opinions early?
(C)A guilty pleasure romance to indulge my girly chick-flick side?
(D)Or a fast paced epic adventure story to entertain and excite?
I usually end up bringing;
(E) All of the above
However this decision is regretted when I have to lug around that carry-on full on books, so I found a solution to book lovers! Bring a kindle. Stop gripping about technology killing books. I love a real paper book, but for traveling, suck it up. It is easier. What made me think of this subject was I just spent the last day traveling. I didn't read the scholarly classic, I read Bossypants.
From extensive research into the material, I have concluded that Tina Fey is FUNNY. You may believe that a memoir is a dull recounting of someone else's life. That is probably true for some people, but "dull" is not the word to describe Tina Fey's hilarious stories. This book is relatable and fun making it perfect for a plane ride. Her humble beginnings remind the reader that she too is of the human species a fact that can be overpowered by her celebrity level talent of comedy. This book goes through her stories of early childhood and then becomes of story of her career. Her fulfilling career includes working at Second City, Saturday Night Live, and producing 30 Rock, yet she has taken the time to write a book of tips from what she learned through her career. This book was enjoyable and funny, so take it on a plane and laugh. She's a comedian. She wrote those jokes for you.
